Jason Downing has been a powerful musical force for 17 years professionally, bringing his style of supercharged blues and intense songwriting to a national audience. Recognized for outstanding vocal prowess and as a world-class harmonic player, Jason has managed to break into every music scene he has jumped into. He has released 7 studio CDs, including a children’s album he is currently working on with some of Colorado’s finest and most notable musicians, and his latest CD “Peace Will Win” with his current band: Musketeer Gripweed.

Jason’s passion for songwriting and diverse approach to music makes him extremely versatile, and it also makes it impossible to label him in one genre of music. Described as; old school gut bucket blues, cosmic boogie funk, soul singin, with a taste of folk, bluegrass, and topped off with a church-like preacher performance aura, his shows are anything but predictable, and keep audiences on their feet with an energy that is UNMATCHED on stage, period.

Jason current performances range widely from a solo acoustic artist, duo, acoustic trio and with a full band, as live and loud as it gets. As usual, the musicians that Jason plays with are the finest in Colorado, many of whom have toured internationally and nationally. Jason has shared the stage with the likes of Buddy guy, Taj Mahal, Chris Duarte’, Spearhead, The North Mississippi Allstars, B-52s, and many others. He has played numerous venues throughout the country and Colorado where he is currently based including; Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Aggie Theatre, Fox Theatre, Blue Bird, Denver Fillmore, Mishawaka, several nation-wide festivals, fundraisers, corporate functions, and much, much, more. Most of all, Jason promotes a message of peace and unity through his music, and has been recognized in his community as a positive force of change, as well as focusing much of his attention on element often forgotten about in professional music; having fun.
